Robert Shaffer is an Assistant Deputy Minister for the Insurance Division at the Department of Health, Seniors, and Long-Term Care in Manitoba. Leadership, accountability, governance, operational, and strategic performance in the provision of health care have been a strong focus of his career. He has a diverse background in health care, including laboratory management, operational, and strategic management, and provincial health system planning. His current portfolio at the Department of Health, Seniors, and Long-Term Care in Manitoba includes Insured Benefits, Non-Insured Benefits, and Compensation and Medical Remuneration Strategies.
In addition to his role as Board Chair for the pCPA, he is an active volunteer in his community. He also represents Western Canada as a Board member for Canada’s Drug Agency and previously held Board member roles at CancerCare Manitoba, the pan-Canadian Oncology Drug Review (Board Chair), and the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba.
