We know how important timely coverage for new drugs is. As one part of the drug reimbursement process, the pCPA is committed to supporting timely drug coverage for public drug plan participants in Canada.

That’s why we’ve created expedited negotiation pathway options, including the early negotiation process (ENP), targeted negotiation process (TNP) and temporary access process (pTAP). These processes apply nationally, benefitting those enrolled in federal, provincial, and territorial public drug plans across Canada.

Each pathway is designed for specific types of drugs, but all share the same 4 phases as our standard negotiation process:

  • Initiation: A drug is identified and brought into a pCPA process
  • Consideration: Relevant clinical, economic, and other information is reviewed to decide how to approach negotiation
  • Negotiation: The pCPA and manufacturer exchange offers involving price and coverage conditions
  • Completion: The negotiation concludes and the outcome is communicated to public drug plans to support listing decisions
